The owners of this 100 year old craftsman in Leschi, overlooking Lake Washington, were ready to update their kitchen by opening up the back wall with floor to ceiling windows. This necessitated removing a peninsula in favor of an island, creating more flow through the space.
To ensure that this kitchen update was not stark in context of the rest of the house, they opted for a transitional look that melded some of the fine details of their house built in 1911 and their classic stove, with an updated modern aesthetic, and some new, convenient panel-ready appliances. These modern frameless shaker cabinets are in a custom blue paint, with a low-sheen conversion varnish for ease of cleaning and durability.
